About Argos
Richard Tompkins founded Argos in 1972 out of his Green Shield Stamps business. Customers browsed a printed catalogue instead of shelves, and the chain grew to sell toys, jewellery, electronics and home goods. Sainsbury's bought it in 2016, and many Argos counters are now inside Sainsbury's supermarkets.

Frequently asked questions
Is Kardpal the official Argos app?
No. Kardpal is an independent app that keeps your Argos card number and shows it at the till. For points balance, offers and rewards, use Argos's official channels.
Can the Argos till scan my card from my phone?
Usually yes: Kardpal shows the same code as the card, large and on a white background. If the scanner struggles, turn the brightness up. The number is shown under the code too, so the cashier can type it.
Do I need internet to use my Argos card?
No. Once saved, the card stays on your phone and opens offline.
