## About Matalan

John Hargreaves founded Matalan in 1985 in Merseyside. It started as a members-only clothing warehouse modelled on Sam's Club and dropped memberships in 1998. In 2024 it had 230 UK shops selling clothing and homeware.

In the UK Matalan has 220 shops, in 12 of 12 regions. The region with the most shops is North West (32), followed by South East (25).

## How to add your Matalan card

- Open Kardpal and tap the + button at the bottom.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Kardpal the official Matalan app?

No. Kardpal is an independent app that keeps your Matalan card number and shows it at the till. For points balance, offers and rewards, use Matalan's official channels.

### Can the Matalan till scan my card from my phone?

Usually yes: Kardpal shows the same code as the card, large and on a white background. If the scanner struggles, turn the brightness up. The number is shown under the code too, so the cashier can type it.

### Do I need internet to use my Matalan card?

No. Once saved, the card stays on your phone and opens offline.
